Thermochemical liquefaction of wheat straw in sub- and supercritical tetralin

The present work investigates the thermochemical conversion of wheat straw biomass in a suband supercritical tetralin medium. experiment was carried out batch reactor at 285, 330, 380, 420 and 460 °C for 10 minutes. process liquefaction subcritical characterised by relatively high efficiency. At °C, rate amounted to 98.2% a.d.m. maximum yield liquid products during (81.6% a.d.m.) obtained 380 °C. were fractionated successive extraction with hexane, water ethanol. According GC-MS data, soluble hexane comprised mixture low-molecular weight degradation components derivatives, including methyl esters fatty acids, aromatic compounds, alkanes minor alcohols ketones. When temperature increased, content diminished, followed an increment proportion compounds up 50% rel. No phenolic Dehydrogenation, alkylation isomerisation formation naphthalene, 1,4-dihydronaphthalene alkyl derivatives tetralin, naphthalene indane occurred under given conditions. conducted comparative analysis infrared spectra solid suggested that, temperatures 330 polysaccharide fragmentation is more pronounced biomass, while, higher temperatures, lignin prevails. As result, IR-spectrum product revealed weakly absorption bands alkylaromatic structural fragments. same time, only mineral ash adsorbed observed
